Golden Globe Style

The Golden Globes were held  Sunday evening.  It was quite a soggy affair because a big storm hit Los Angles that day.  Since the Golden Globe Awards are such a formal event, not many people wore dresses that showed their shoes.  Here are a few of the shoes.

Amanda Seyfried in Valentino.  You all know I like Valentino.  These peeptoe booties are from Valentino Couture. I remember seeing these on the runway.  A couple of things Amanda’s stylist should have told her:  Learn how to pose.  (I detest that pigeon toed, legs spread pose. It ruins the entire look.)

Secondly, if you are going to wear peeptoes, get a pedicure.  It ruins the look

Ashley Olsen is in an Erdem dress from Fall 2009.  She is wearing blue satin Manolo Blahnik Hangsi shoes.  The general opinion is that it was too matched. I think the dress and shoes are quite beautiful.  I am so used to her wearing a Boho look, this is refreshing.

Amy Adams in a Caroline Herrera dress wore a pair of gold satin Christian Louboutins, I think they are Prive.  Ya gotta love pregnant women when they wear high shoes.   It is like they are saying, “The body is gone.  The hair is gone.  By golly, I am going to wear amazing shoes.”  Amy did.

Love the purse, too.

Chloe Sevigny wore an iced lilac Valentino on the red carpet, but the story is that Chase Crawford stepped on it and tore it , so she changed for the after party.

She word a Christian Lacroix Fall 2009 Couture tulle dressfor the after party.  Many liked the black dress over the lilac dress.  Something my mother used to tell me was, “Wear an appropriate dress for the occasion.”  I think Chloe is wearing a party dress for the party, and wore a red carpet dress for the red carpet.  I am just sorry the first dress got torn.  She wore black satin platform peeptoes for shoes.

The best part of Tina Fey’s outfit was her shoes.  Christian Louboutin peep toe d’orsays.  I can’t find a stock photo of the shoes. The dress was Zac Posen.  There is just so much going on with that dress.

The best part of the whole red carpet show was when Paul McCartney showed up with this massive umbrella.  It reminded me of the umbrellas you see at bistros. Four people could have used that umbrella with room to spare.  He went through the place with confidence. It was pretty funny.

I don’t get Chloe as a whole. She is supposed to have this cutting edge style, but I don’t see it. She often has a “lights out” look on her face that is not flattering. I just don’t understand the whole love affair fashion has with her.

I was at a friend's house and we put this on. When Chloe was announced the winner, almost everyone in the room agreed how ugly that dress was. I, for one, wasn't sorry the dress was ripped.
