Happy Birthday Dirk Bikkembergs!

Today is Dirk Bikkembergs 50th birthday. He is a part of the Antwerp Six. His emphasis is with men’s wear, however his women’s wear is doing quite well. His designs are strongly influenced by football (American soccer). Early in his designer career he decided to focus on football, considering it the universal language of the 21st century. This passion for football opened opportunities to design clothing for and eventually to purchase the F.C. Fossombrone team in Italy. His high-performance apparel is tested and approved by the team, and has a reputation for being high quality.
Since his designing emphasis has not been women’s wear and doesn’t do girly designs, Dirk B. hasn’t been on my radar. Now my curiosity will encourage me to look at his designs.

To celebrate Dirk’s birthday I am going to wear golden underwear. Not really, I am just going to play soccer with R5baby and R5dog. Maybe then I will win, for once.
