High Heel Marathon Comes to NYC
Posted on July 9th, 2008 by Shomore under Celebrity Shoe StyleHigh heel marathons have officially hit the states. It’s fitting that the latest high heel marathon occurred in fashionable New York City. From the NY Post:
..When the bubbly blond co-host of “Live with Regis & Kelly” saw a news story about an international high-heel marathon, she bragged to Executive Producer Michael Gellman that if there was one in New York, she’d win.
More than 500 participants - including 11 men - from 40 states will compete in Regis and Kelly’s first-ever High Heel-a-thon in Central Park this morning for a chance at first place and $25,000. The race will air live starting at 9:30 a.m.
“Kelly is known for her shoes. So when she was bragging that she’d win, we knew we had to do it,” Gellman says. “Though now she’s getting nervous. She’s starting to backtrack. It was, ‘I’m gonna win, I’m gonna kill those people.’ And now she sounds like she’s nervous.” And she is.
“I’ve run in high heels trying to catch a cab, running to the bus, running to go through my life. I know what it’s like - it’s not pleasant. I just want to go there and do it,” she says, wearing 4-inch, brown YSL’s. “I swear to you, I’m terrified - I’m terrified! There I said it, I’m terrified.”
Let’s hope none of the contestants suffer the same fate as this British woman who broke her ankle after his heels snapped off. Even after ‘winning’ $14,900 in compensation, I still think she got the raw end of the stick.
Watch the video to see whether Kelly retained her bragging rights.

Anything that causes pain is not worth the cash!

I have seen brides run in funny shoes before - usually they wear flat shoes.

Ouch! Personally always thought high heels were very difficult to wear. Running in them has to be a sight to see.
