High Vs. Moderate: Which Shoe Height Will Reign This Fall?

All right, fashion writers. Which exactly is it? The Post claims that the cruel, despotic reign of the overly high heel is “over” with this headline:

But wait! The New York Times swears that this fall’s heels will be “sky-high” in a wedge format:

And Andre Leon Talley and numerous others say it’s time to come down from the sky high heel. The current issue of WWD Accessories that I opened up, however, was replete with ridiculously high heels, and Bill Cunningham of the New York Times, says he’s seeing ridiculously high heels in street fashion.

What will supply (of what the designers provide) and demand (of what women want) be this fall? Will women continue to buy the highest heel possible for the corporate boardroom and the catwalk of the street?

With the few runway photos I saw for the spring RTW, there were platforms, but the heel to toe ratio seemed lower than what I had seen before. Maybe Twinkletoes can let us know if that is really so.

Maybe it is just going to take a season before the superhigh shoes come down.
