Hosiery Trend at Fashion Week

A very prominent trend at fashion week this season was interesting hosiery. We were definitely in luck with the weather this year; the temperature was above freezing almost all week. However, hosiery (or tights, as the kids call them today) is the best way to deceive yourself into thinking that the little dress you’re wearing is actually warm.
On the runway at Carlos Campos, I saw some of the sexiest hosiery that’s been around in recent times:
I admit that the super shortie romper is not something that most women can pull off, but the hosiery would definitely make the wearer feel sexy, whether it was completely visible or not. Even looking at this still photo right now, I can see that the impact doesn’t transfer. In person, these suckers just radiated sensuality. There was an audible silence as all the men in the room collectively caught their breath when this model strutted down the runway.
At the Barbie runway show, (I know, I keep going back to that one, but it was FULL of material) we saw the be-hearted little girl princess tights that I know at least half of you had when you were young. Admit it! I’m on to you!
There were Wicked Witch of the East tights at Erin Featherston and pretty patterned paillettes at Custo Barcelona.
And those were just the tights on the runway! Off the runway, it was clear that the hosiery trend has already swept the New York fashion elite.
I’m am curious about whether this trend is New York-centric. I know that even outside fashion week, the streets of New York are littered with ladies in Jewel Toned and pattered tights. Not to mention the leggings (which are NOT pants, ladies) and stirrup tights that are all over the place. Is this trend prevalent where you live?

Wonderful write-up 'TwinkleToes'.
My boyfriend and I adore sexy & Fashionable Pantyhose.
He goes 'ga-ga' for my gams whenever I am wearing a great pair,
and even asks me to Model them for him.
It *seams* like it took a while for the 'brittany spears' style to finally go away. And now it looks like most all girls are showing their legs again in pretty Hosiery. Even the guys are getting brave enough to admit to loving them on us again!
We like the pics you added- but especially the 1st (top) one. Those are "Wolford" Pantyhose. (very expensive, but they last a lot longer and feel incredible.) And of course the looks.
I have that same pair there – the stylish short-shorts outfit is so great!
We live in the North-East of the U.S. (near NYC) and are sometimes staying in Western Europe- and happy to say, *yes!* we see in vogue Pantyhose and Tights everywhere!
-My Man just commented, "Thank you Ladies for dressing up in them, we luv you!"
His favorites are the silky sheer Pantyhose w/an itsy bit of shine/lustre. He can comment more later.
My favorites are also the sheer silky ones (can't help but feel so Sexy) but also something with a small design on it. Not too much, but enough to say, "I caught you looking."

Bright, bold patterns have completely taken over as a staple for winter wardrobes. You see people wearing anything from brightly colored opaque tights to bold geographic patterned tights. http://www.kneesntoes.coom has a great selection of pattern tights that are stylish while still staying in the realm of wearable.

I live in Ohio – not exactly the fashion capital of the world. I haven't really seen this trend being embraced around here.

I live in South korea currently, and tights are all the rage here. Apparently, it is completely appropriate to wear a skirt that barely covers your bottom as long as you have opaque, and especially opaque *and* patterned tights on here.

Im a big fan of tights, coloured and patterned tights are just anotehr wear to accessorise a fashionable outfit. I also shop at http://www.tightsplease.co.uk becuase they have looks straight of the catwalk and from celebrities. I agree tanned toned legs look fabulous with short dresses but I think you might as well experiment with your style!

no not in portland. people really don't dress up here… I do but I can't help but feel like this hosiery screams blair from gossip girl. Is that character at all influencing from ssn1 or did this trend happen before 2008?

I live in LA and I've seen a recent increase in the number of girls wearing intricately pattered lace tights with their short-shorts and flats. This is in addition to the longer trend of wearing tiny dresses (tunics, really) with opaque footless leggings.
