It’s a Wedge! It’s a Heel! It’s…confusing!
Posted on November 17th, 2008 by twinkletoes under Celebrity Shoe Style, General, High heels, Louis Vuitton Shoes, Shoes of Project Runway, Walking Disasters, WedgesWhen the fug girls posted this image of Lily Allen wearing these Louis Vuitton wedge/stilettos (welettos?) (stiledges?), I thought “Oh that kooky Lily Allen has done it again. Yet another crazy accessory.

But then the Project Rungay boys posted an image of Heidi Klum wearing the same shoes! And she wore the on the red carpet of the Victoria Secret Angels Fashion Show Afterparty. A time when you would think “sexy” would be the key word. The words these suckers conjure for me are “confusing,” “split-personality,” and “Why?!?” From a distance they just look like giant clodhoppers interrupting the line of Heidi’s insanely long legs. Up close they are just weird. Here they are on Heidi:
My opinion is pretty clear here. But what do you think? Obviously designers have been going to great lengths to make new and unusual shapes in shoes. Is this stepping over the line? What’s next?
- Taraji Henson at the Independent Spirit Awards
- House of Harlow Shoes from Nicole Richie
- What your shoes say about you (from a man’s perspective)
- Heels for the Expecting Mom?
- Heidi Klum wears Louboutins to the Golden Globes Awards
- Jimmy Choo for H&M

Well I guess since everything has already been done. They have to find new and different ways to make shoes.

I just dont see the point of these shoes, i mean, if you want a wedge, wear a wedge, if you want a stiletto, wear the stiletto. This fugly shoe is the “im confused” shoe. I dont like it…

Oh my, that is one fugly shoe! Lily, okay, she makes mistakes, but Heidi, what was she thinking?? Here’s the only scenario I can come up with: She asked Seal, “Hey, hon, do these shoes look okay?” And he was busy thinking about music and replied on auto-pilot, “You look beautiful, as always, my sweet.” That’s the only explanation.

If you try enough ideas, something ugly will invariably come out of it. But in the long run, thinking outside the box is a healthy trend for any industry that demands unique and creative products to prevent reducing their lines to mere commodities. Eventually, something really special and original will come out of it. But if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Ultimately the market will vote with their $ what dies, and what survives.
