Ivanka Trump the Shoe Designer
posted by: Shomore in Celebrity Shoe Style on January 23rd, 2010
Ivanka Trump has signed a deal to design a contemporary footwear line via Marc Fisher Footwear. In doing so, she joins the ranks of famous wealthy celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Nicole Richie who have shoe lines bearing their namesake.
For most of these ‘designers’, I’ve been less than impressed. However, I find myself somewhat curious to see the end result here. For one, despite Ivanka’s ostentatious father and no doubt gilded upbringing, she has grown up to be a classy and intelligent business woman, free of the scandals I’ve sadly become too accustomed to seeing in the tabloids. She already has a jewelry line out too, which isn’t half bad. My hope is that the shoes will be equally elegant and hopefully more original than other celebs who lend their name but seemingly little else to the brand.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Ivanka has what it takes to be a shoe designer or will she fall flat on her pumps so to speak?

I would much rather buy from her line than Paris Hilton (who I doubt put any effort into anything). Ivanka seems to have a passion for what she puts her name on (see her jewelry line).

Yes… i very much agree. I think she has class and sophisticated style. I believe that her line will hopefully be original and elegant. Looking forward to it. As a woman close to her age, even though she had been given opportunities many of us haven’t had at our reach, I find her inspiring and a great role model. She acknowledges that we should learn to be indispensible and ahead of the game.

Marty, we have an automatic Aksimet spam-checker. It is better than 99% effective at catching real spam, but occasionally will flag comments that are generic, repetitive, or contain shopping links. If yours had any of those it may have been caught by the spamkiller. Unfortunately, there is not a way to selectively un-spam by commenter. Feel free to re-make your comment without linked content & it shouldn’t be grabbed by the spam system.

I think it will entirely depend on the cost and quality of the shoe. Most celeb shoes are so poorly and cheaply done that they tend to not do well. Hell, even most celebs don’t wear their own shoes. Look at the most successful, Lamb and Jessica Simpson. JS line meets the needs of the $100 – 60 shoe. An average shoe in cost and quality. Lamb meets the higher end market with it’s higher end shoes. I am willing to bet Ivanka goes towards the LAMB side rather than the JLo side.

I would much rather purchase shoes from Ivanka's line than the Paris Hilton line. Ivanka is a class act with outstanding style & taste. Can't want until the line is launched.
