Knotty Nuttiness: Bernhard Willhelm for Camper

I love the wacky artiness of this shoe. I was in the Camper store yesterday and there were so many cool collaborations going on. This is one of them. It’s like having Twizzlers as your gladiator shoes! Love the creativity of the Camper collabs.
Not only is Herr Willhelm incredibly creative, but he’s quite funny as well. ”Fashion people only react to very strong ideas. One season I was into rubbish, so I based the collection on McDonald’s Happy Meal figures.”
Sounds like Zoolander’s Derelicte style to me.
So maybe Twizzlers were indeed the inspiration? There is a childlike playfulness in this shoe. When asked about his playfulness, he said, “I’ve been inspired by kids’ naïve artwork.”
Recycling your leather, ropes and rubber soles and having fun while you’re at it? A nice combo. Ecological is still the word of the fashion bird.
Stylists and hip shops like Opening Ceremony are loving it.

I have BOTH styles of these shoes (the flat ones and the ones with the heels) and they are some of the most comfortable and walkable shoes I have ever owned. The heels actually have a padded insole, and he red ones are totally flat so it's just like any flat sandal, plus, it's made from recycled materials (rubber bottoms from reclaimed tires, reclaimed leather)
