A lot of luxury houses, realising the lucrative potential (as well as the good reputation and widespread appeal) of developing or amping up already existing shoe lines, have been dramatically increasing shoe production and number of designs output lately. It also seems like a few of the older houses have gotten up to speed on how different and innovative they need to be to compete with the Pierre Hardys, Gallianos and McQueens of the world, even if they’re not going to get quite as funky or out there.

Lanvin has been doing some really gorgeous things with leather and dramatic, unconventional shapes.
