Manolo Blahnik Campy Mary Janes

Like many other women, I first fell in love with Manolo Blahnik shoes way, way back in the day, when Carrie Bradshaw introduced them to all us regular girls. I mean, I’ll be honest, prior to Sex and the City, I probably thought “Manolo” was some kind of ethnic food. What can I say? I was sheltered. I’m forever thankful to HBO, however, because now I can properly worship these Campy Mary Janes ($645 at Barneys). But campy? Honey, not quite. How about classic?
See, I adore Mary Janes. I’ve been that way since I was a little girl, prancing around in black patent leather baby Janes. What I love about these in particular has a lot to do with why I love Manolo Blahnik designs. These pumps are simple, sleek, and unspeakably elegant. If they were basic black, they could easily get a little boring, but this bright candy apple red color makes them throb with an edgy kind of elegance. The style evokes innocence, the color evokes sex appeal – it’s just the best of all worlds no matter which way you look at it.
A red shoe, like a red lip, can sometimes make all the difference. They make the perfect splash of color for a monochromatic outfit, but can also heighten and enhance a hot, colorful little number. I’m thinking pencil skirts and cardigan sweaters, myself, or the little black outfit Reese Witherspoon wore in Four Christmases, while visiting the families.
In addition to a 105 millimeter heel, these Mary Janes feature piping in a contrasting color, a tapered toe, and an adjustable strap – plus miles and miles of high class and style. What do you guys think about red shoes? They make a serious statement, right? When do you think it’s okay to wear such a bright shoe?

I LOVE MANOLO'S CAMPY MARY JANES! I have a pair of my own,…a boring patent black
But this red ones, I agree with you, speak about personality. They do make a serious statement, because they give the simple form a smart twist. They say: yes, I do dare to dare. But that is what red does. I still remember a red pair of boots I once had: anytime I wore them it felt like screaming "I am here to stay, world!" It felt good.
This red version of the campy mary janes can go well with a number of combinations of clothing. I would match them with a small black dress, a black straight skirt right to the knees,…. or I am imagining bold matches, such as purple and red, or bright green and red, and not because I am Italian
