Manolo Blahnik Nesta Fur Trim Bootie

We have a very interesting highlight featured in Nordstrom’s live designer shoe sale: the Manolo Blahnik Nesta Fur Trim Bootie ($769.90 at Nordstrom).  Now, this is the kind of shoe I like to see.  Call me crazy, but I think all truly trendsetting fashion should be at least a little controversial.  If someone’s not hating and someone else isn’t falling in love, then it’s simply not original enough.

That being said, let’s step back and take a look at these booties, shall we?  The suede looks buttery both in color and texture.  Even through the photographs, you can just tell the leather will feel soft and supple against your skin. The angle of the toe creates a pleasing contrast to the twist and turn of the trim.

And now we get to the crux of the issue: the trim itself.   In this case, the fur is 100 percent genuine, a plush, soft, and silky rabbit fur with an asymmetrical twist designed to complement the point of the toe and the skinniness of the wrapped heel.  The heel itself is quite tame, measuring only 3 and ¼ inches.  As mentioned, it is wrapped for added stability, so its slender spike isn’t really an issue.  The booties are also available in black.

Down from $1,295.00, these booties give new meaning to the idea of being on sale.  However, is it worth it to you?  I’m still curious about what all of you think about wearing fur.

What people think of fur will always depend on where they live and how familiar they are with the animal concerned. To me as a New Zealander possum fur and rabbit fur are on a par with sheepskin and cow leather. To an Australian, possum fur is a terrible thing, and I dare say there are people in England who think rabbits are just cute cuddly animals, and not a blight that destroys pasture and causes erosion. I'm sure there are also countries where the people are horrified that we use cow, pig, and sheepskin for clothing.
