Well, I’m a little late on fulfilling my promise of a little more metallic madness, but better late than never, right? This particular installment is brought to you courtesy of the fantastically fabulous, utterly unmatched style and genius of Marc Jacobs. His hot little Metallic Mary Jane Pumps ($309.99 at Saks) are down from $775, and they represent oh so many things that I love in a shoe.

I can already envision how these would look placed against a pair of opaque black tights. That’s how I would wear them: all black, head to toe, with just the shoes and maybe a single stunning piece of jewelry, a necklace or a cocktail ring, for accents.

Pretty much everybody already knows that I am mad as a hatter for Mary Janes. I love the silhouette on this pair, absolutely love it. This is no dainty little schoolgirl shoe – and yet there is something evocative of that innocence in them, something a little sweet and naïve beneath all the sparkle, glimmer, and flair.

In addition to that lovely silver sheen – which is all scrumptious leather, baby – you get a little more glitter from the crystals there on the awesome double straps. The heels are blocked and self covered, and measure 4 and ¼ inches, or 110 millimeters.

Now, I know some folks thinks that Mary Janes are a little too old fashioned, so what do y’all think? Is this just done to death, or do the embellishments make it new and now and edgy? Has Marc Jacobs succeeded in creating a chic, sleek new style of Mary Janes?
