I live next to a pool–an exclusive club with waiting lists of several years. Each day, cars park in front of my garage and unload droves of kids with their respective mothers, retirees of all ages and skin pigments, and youngsters whose membership is paid for by their rich daddy.

Me–I’m not so much of a pool person. I burn easily, the sun fatigues me, and although I like swimming, I much prefer the ocean or a lake. Plus, just the thought of lying there by the pool for hours makes me squirm–especially in what looks to be the first serious heat wave of the summer.

If I were a pool person though, I’d probably pay as much attention to my footwear as to my swimsuit. I don’t seem to have anything adequate in my wardrobe for the moment to glam it up by the pool side, but I just happened to spot something right-on:
