Never underestimate the power of the feminist blogger to raise shoe awareness

Twisty (whom I adore with every fiber of my being) didn’t have time to write a post yesterday (nor today, hm) at her celebrated anti-patriarchy blog, and instead, asks somewhat cursorily of her readers to ‘discuss shoes’ while she’s gone.

And by golly, they do just that ! Great feminist primer to shoe-wearing, I must say. Thorough comparisons between Merell, Clarks, Born, Birkenstocks, Chacos, and Danskos, with the occasional Manolo-wearer thrown in the mix. An absolute delight! Why? Because no very rarely do these women, who otherwise are united on the patriarchy-blaming front, agree on shoes. Love, hate, shoes in general. Love, hate Birkenstocks. And so on and so forth. Surely there’s a ‘footwear and feminism’ dissertation in there somewhere!
