NY Fashion Week Spring 2008 - Shoe Wrap up
Posted on September 13th, 2007 by Shomore under Fashion Week, Michael Kors ShoesWith the closeout of fashion week, I thought about doing a comprehensive write up about the shoe trends seen. But honestly, shoebloggers Shoesense and Jitterbugbaby, rather impressively identified the trends on the runway already. A girl would only be regurgitating their observations so I’d rather direct you to their shoe posts and identification of the shoe trends. I can confirm the trends they mentioned were in full force for the remainder of the shows. The other new trends I saw were:
-The usage of dual anything - dual colors, patterns, or textures. Cases in point:
Marc by Marc Jacobs - love the striped heel mixed with the solid patent navy blue shoe.

Donna Karan - different material and colors.

Oscar de la Renta - python with a hint of red

Zac Posen - A beautiful dual, creamy T-strap

Besides what Shoesense mentioned with yellow being a popular color, another color featured on the runway was white.
Calvin Klein had an interesting white cutout peep-toe shoe.

And Donna Karan had this fringe white shoe.

Michael Kors mixed up his while oxford shoe with a little gold.

and Carolina Herrera had this lovely T-strap with gold link accents (see a trend with gold?)

All in all, though, I have to say again there were some beautiful shoes on the runway. I would gladly put them on my feet but I didn’t find anything terribly inspirational shoe-wise in any of the designs.
I’m already starting to feel a little Fashion Week withdrawn. Fortunately, the Emmy’s are coming up so I have that to occupy my fashion cravings.
- Would you wear missmatched shoes?
- Comfort and style
- To PVC or not to PVC?
- Yellow booties by Marc Jacobs
- Patent me up!
