Ode to John Galliano

When it comes to fashion statements, you can always count on John Galliano to make a big one.  And personally, I can pretty much count on the fact that I’m going to love it.

Paris Fashion Week for Spring 2008?  No changes need be made to my Galliano adoration.  Any man who can send such fanciful, imaginative, BEAUTIFUL clothing down the runway has my vote for fashion deity-hood.

Now I know we talk about shoes here, but I can’t resist a quickie peek at a few of the other goodies on display.   There was everything from turn-of-the-20th-century Coney Island babydoll girl smocking

to black widow flamenco goddess extraordinaire.

And his accessories were hardly overlooked.  Check out these two of his Old Glamour 40s screen siren inspired hats.

What’s not to love about the glitz and polish of these toppers?

And what did the lucky ladies who strutted and pranced their way down Galliano’s runway have on their feet?  Some delightful, delicious, delovely pastry confections of shoes.  Lace socklets and ribbon trimming were in abundance.

Shiny finishes reigned supreme.

But by far the most stunning shoe, in my opinion, has got to be Magdalena Frackowiak’s to-die-for tasseled ankle strap beauties with the black lace and fishnet accents, which may be part of the shoe or may just be a seriously unique and fabulous way to work a ribbon into your wardrobe.

In any event, Mr. Galliano, I tip my hat to you, whether that hat comes off the head of a space alien flapper or your own devilishly hot mess of a self.

Oh man, I'd buy bunches of those ribbon and lace deals. Poochie, if you do ever find where they were, I'd love to know it. Thanks.

I've seen those lace-tie-ribbon-sock-thingies online some where. You can buy them in all kinds of colors and materials and they are made to accessories with your heels in just such a way.

Now if I can only remember where….
