At my preferred place of pedicurism, Bliss, a basic pedicure is $55. At my backup, Bloomie, it’s $30. Sad to say, but I can’t really afford this right now. Plus, it’s winter, and I can get away with not getting it done by a professional.

But I still like to do my nails at home. It’s actually fun and pleasurable to spoil myself a bit when I have the time, put on a oatmeal or clay masque and cucumbers on my eyes and just lie down and put on some music afterwards.

I have all the basic tools but spied this portable pedicure system at Duane Reade and am considering investing in it. It includes four different kinds of tools for buffing.

Duane Reade also has callus removers and pumice stones for those cheap at home pedicures.

If you’re feeling even more dedicated to doing manis and pedis at home, Homedics has a Style Spa Deluxe Manicure & Pedicure 10-piece system, including fine and coarse shaping discs; thin, thick and sapphire filling cones; a polishing disc, cuticle lifter and cuticle stick.

Body Toolz has this Deluxe Manicure/Pedicure Kit.

Don’t forget to buff your nails before polishing, evening out ridges, especially on your big toe, and then bringing out the shine. There are many nail buffers for sale online and most likely at your local drugstore. I highly recommend Creative Nail and Sephora’s manual nail buffers. Sephora also has an electrical nail buffer that I’m intrigued to try.

Happy Saving-Money-at-Home Pedicure Time!
