Pierre Hardy Moc Fur Wedge

Ladies, allow me to present to you the Pierre Hardy Fur Moc Wedge ($1,575 at Barneys). If you need a moment, please take it; I’ll wait. I had to take several myself. Are we ready? Great. So, I cannot decide if I think these are fabulous or full of dreckitude – which is one of the reasons I love Pierre Hardy in the first place. Say what you will about the brand, but the shoes in the collection are always innovative. Whatever else you might say about these wedges, you definitely have to admit that.
Hardy claims to employ sleek lines in the shoes in the collection, and the aesthetic is both sensual and out there. I can definitely see that in this pair. My biggest thing is that, in spite of how completely original they are, I can’t really see myself wearing them. In fact, I can’t see where they’d be wearable anywhere but the catwalk. I can’t even imagine seeing them in Sex and the City 3. I hate to say it, but they sort of remind me of Cousin ITT from the Addams Family. Bad, right?
But I can’t deny their uniqueness, nor would I even try. Part wedge, part boot, part moccasin, their belted insteps are trimmed in fur. They come in black, and the wedge heel is about 10 millimeters high. One problem: I cannot find out whether this is faux fur or real fur anywhere. No one’s talking! Being that I don’t wear faux or real fur myself, I can’t even begin to tell from the picture. Does anyone else have an eye for that type of thing? I’m also highly interested in knowing whether or not you think these are wearable for anyone, or just for models rocking it on the runway.
