Product Report: Stiruppz

One of the problems I have with tucking jeans into boots is that the jeans always work themselves up. It is annoying. Trying to tuck jeans into pull on boots is just as difficult. The jeans always pull up and bunch up in the shaft. There is a new product called Stiruppz. Developer Lisa Church had an ingenious idea. The website tells how she came up with her idea.
Picture little suspenders that go around your foot to hold the jeans into place. (How come I never think of stuff like this?) You cuff your jeans up to adjust to get the proper tension, clip these stiruppz onto your jeans, and slip your boots on.
When I tried these, I found that they were easiest with boots that had a zipper. The reason has to do with my foot, not the product. I have a fairly high instep and big calves which makes pulling boots in a struggle. With the extra fabric around my calves, it made it more of a struggle. If you have normal to smaller calves, they would be just the ticket when pulling on your boots.
They work best when cuffed. For those like me with big calves a pair of ankle pants with Stiruppz would help if you need as little fabric as possible. You need a pair of skinny jeans. I tried these with a pair of bootcuts just for kicks. There was so much fabric I couldn’t do anything with the boots.
They are $25 and can be purchased through stiruppz.com. These are WELL made. I can imagine them lasting several seasons. Good investment.
They are a great product from a great idea.

There is another great product for the same purpose (at less than half the price!) JeanGrabbers are designed to keep jeans in boots, but are SUPER cute and work amazingly well. Darling designs to choose from, the elastic strap is silky soft, and the clips have different metallic finishes with an adorable little boot embossed on each (one choice is even copper!) Check them out, see what you think. http://www.jeangrabbers.com (Special price for a 3-unit bundle, too! Perfect for stocking stuffers!)

I remember these stirrup clips from the 80′s when stirrup pants were all the rage, and recently I have been looking absolutely everywhere for them again!
I had never heard of using rubber bands around your ankles, until I asked a shoe salesman if he knew where I could find stirrup clips and he suggested rubber bands.

Vee, actually I am not. I was a jr. high school teacher in the 80s. The kids in my school just used rubber bands which cut the circulation off their feet. They always had these red marks around their ankles. This group was also big into cuffing their pants with a specific pleat in a specific place. They now call that look "boyfriend jeans". It was an art that I really never bothered to learn.
I am not one who tucks her jeans in very often, so I had no idea these were around.

You must be very very young. Certainly not a child of the 80's because these foot suspender thingys were around back in my day – when skinny jeans weren't called skinny jeans – they were tapered and had zippers – and the legging/tunic rage was in full-swing. And people had to keep their ankle constricting pants tucked into Dr Martins and witch boots and slouch boots. Skinny/tapered jeans and leggings are two trends that should never have been resurrected. Foot suspender thingys are probably a third.
