Emilio Pucci Spring 2011 Shoes

The Pucci collection stirred both raves and pans.   Some younger reviewers thought it was inspired, the older reviewers thought it was just more of the same.   Peter Dundas has carried that Greeky, beachy, floaty thing another year with blues and whites  being the predominant colors.  I personally loved the majority of the clothing.   I can see several red carpet dresses in this collection, but the shoes are not that unusual.

The boots are a favorite with the reviewers, but they are nothing we haven’t seen before.  The smooth leather is gorgeous (see the last photo).  The braiding on the top is nice.

I have ambivalent feelings about the sandals.   As a Greeky, beachy, floaty thong,  they don’t work because of the tiny metal high heel.  They don’t work as a statement heel because they are  not statement enough and  too similar to better statement heels. (Michael Kors’ runway heels come to mind.)  We also saw them in a black and white python pattern and black.

If they were  flats, I would probably be all over them, but the heel’s height bothers me.  What do you all think?

We have a hint of a third sandal, but I didn’t see a good photo of the whole shoe, but let’s look at what we CAN see.

The toe is not super pointy which makes the sandal more comfortable, which is nice.  I like the strappy design which, from the lines of the dress,  is ankle height.   It would be fun to see the complete shoe.

So, do you love these shoes or are they just OK?   My opinion is that the shoes are just OK, but the dresses are beautiful and completely wearable.
