Rick Owens Spring/Summer 2011 Shoes

For the longest time Rick Owens seemed to design for himself and not care whether he sold his pieces or not.  That seems to have changed.  His followers are almost cult-like.  Yes, he still gave us the odd looking shoe, but they are not as odd as they used to be.   He seems to be moving towards a more controlled style which makes is more attractive to more consumers.

Let’s look at his shoes.

I love, love, love his covered wedges which he has shown since 2008.  They still work today.

There is one issue with these shoes that would keep me from purchasing them.  Notice the pinky toe sticking out on the photo below:  the placement seems to be the same on all shoes, the models just wear them different.  I have a couple of shoes that have the same  strap placement and I hate it.  I am always tucking that toe under the strap.

This is my least favorite shoe.  I am not sure what to make of the ruffle thing at the ankle.

The sandal below  is a recycle from last fall.

He has introduced  a new gorgeous green.

This is my favorite boot/ sandal, but again, that pinky toe thing bothers me.   Let’s look at the clothes.

It is fun to see Rick make his clothing more user friendly.  I can’t wait to see what his next collection will be like.

I would love to have the green ones without the ankle puff parts!
