Rodarte for Opening Ceremony: Western Pull-On Boot

I’m not really sure what to say about this brand spanking new Rodarte boot, and few things leave me speechless. This is a hot new collection, RODARTE FOR OPENING CEREMONY. At few moments in time do you see two such hyped brands come together.

Upon second thought, I do have some things to say (you knew I would). From far away, I think this would look like a pretty shoe. It’s only close-up that I think I really have some qualms.

I wish that they had chosen instead to go with greyish blue leather and painted or otherwise solidly-applied (rather than embroidered) floral motifs. I know the Mulleavy gals are heavily into embroidered and textural fabrics, but this is too quaint-looking up close.

This is a Western boot, yes, and I like that it’s pull-on, with an elegant shape and gentle curves, especially at the back of the heel, without an overly-turned-up toe. This is a winner from far away, but sadly, I’ll be passing.
