I love checking out the new fashions and shoe styles that appear on the various runways during so-called fashion week (which is what, at least a month long now as it moves from city to city?).  One of the things that is both exciting and frustrating to me  is seeing which items, and in what final variations, finally make it into the land of retail (and since I live  3-5 hours away from any major metro centers, online retailers in particular).

These ankle boots from Givenchy’s spring 2010 couture runway intrigue me.  They have that separate, additional ankle strap – similar to the Louboutin Bridget & Bridget Strass -  that is (much like the Louboutin)  primarily for show.  As an embellishment, it lends a layered look to the whole silhouette that I find appealing.   My mind keeps labeling it a ‘floating ankle strap’. It seems purely decorative, but still, it works on an aesthetic level.

Here are the Givenchy styles  that I am currently finding available that are either directly sourced from the runway, or are similar in using the floating ankle strap embellishment:

Givenchy Calf Hair Ankle Boots $1190 via Net-a-porter

Givenchy peep-toe wedge $895 via Barneys

Givenchy open toe ankle boots $895 via Saks.com

These look like they would hurt if worn… the last pair looks very classy however.

Can those wedges really be considered peep toes? haha!

And I love that last pair!

I don’t think I’d want to wear those boots in the rain.

    Point.

They would be insane rain-catchers. Best for blowy fall days, then.
