Shoe Design That’s all Air
Posted on July 15th, 2008 by jitterbugbaby under General, WedgesMuch like Shoesense, I am sometimes baffled by the exhorbitant prices charged for designer shoes. Innovative design may count for something, and quality of materials, sure. But there’s a ceiling. Or there should be. And then there are the shoes that break that ceiling with the giant numbers following those currency symbols.
New example?
The Zoe, designed by Christian Werner, a German industrial designer.

Yes, this shoe is handmade. Yes, it is made of high grade aluminum. Yes, it is light and airy and a design that (if not really brand new) shows a good deal of innovation and creativity.
But when it’s on, it looks a bit like stripper wear.

And it costs $3,940!
Consider me baffled.

Very elegant design. Yes it’s comparatively costly, but it’s true that designer shoes never been for everyone to buy.
The ZOE is a new concept of footwearing. With elegant aluminum plateau outline frame, and leather straps to support and fit. Due to open space in the frame(heel), it’s light and yet very stylish.
I think ZOE is going to rock in the fashion footwear industry and hope to have more from Werner in near future.

Gosh, those would be great for Halloween! I would love to get tarted up and wear those. (^_^)

although i’m quite sure that loads of thought, time and preparation were put into making these “glass slippers”, they do absolutely nothing for me. i totally agree, they are a bit stripper-esque. as a girl who absolutely adores a fantastic shoe and wouldn’t mind shelling out big duckets (if i had it), i’d pass on these puppies!
