Shoe News: Converse Grinches, Holiday Pop-Up Shops, and Louboutin Hollywood

The holiday shoe news first.
-Converse Grinch shoes? Ay yay yay. Someone stayed too late brainstorming around the conference table. $24.99 at JCPenney.
-Holiday pop-up shops galore! ESPECIALLY a Chanel pop-up shop on W. 14th Street with the Cruise 2011 Collection. Holla!
-You can expect to see more jeweled shoes next year. We’re not complaining, as long as it’s more exotic and creative than the traditional bejeweled flat.
-Rising sourcing costs are worrying shoe manufacturers. That, of course, could affect you in shoe prices, sadly.
-Artisan shoemakers in Venice are making gorgeous, classical footwear the old school way, and sourcing locally. Can Italy stay on top of the high end game with markets like Brazil producing quality footwear more cheaply? Stay tuned.
-XOXO, a juniors’ brand, is set to relaunch this spring. The line looks very boho-luxe from sneak previews, with a lot of suede, crochet and wedge platforms.
-The Sartorialist is big news over at good ole groundbreaking NYT. Sorry guys, but this is not news. The Sartorialist has been photographing fantastic street fashion for ages. Why not feature the smaller photogs?
-Olivia Kim of Opening Ceremony, a personal fashion hero of mine for her offbeat style, rocks Alaia wedges with socks (she says she ALWAYS wears socks — does this mean socks with fancy glittery holiday heels?).
-The Louboutin store in West Hollywood has supercool hieroglyphic and coded tiles. So different from the one on Madison Avenue in New York, which is a plush red velvet box.
That’s all for now folks. Headed to LA today. Let me know any of your favorite shops for holiday shopping, or any pop-up shops!
