Shoe Shopping on Your iPhone and iPad

When it comes to shopping for shoes, I never thought I’d do it on a small handheld device that also serves as a phone.

More than ever before, shopping on your tiny little iPhone or your slightly more accommodating iPad is easy with special apps.

Most online shoppers know and love ShopStyle, which quickly and easily visually aggregates what you’re looking for. Type in “red leather sandals” and you get dozens of pages of choices. Now you can do the same on your ShopStyle iPhone app, and click on through to purchase (or email links to purchase later, if you happen to be waiting for a paycheck to come through!).

Click on through to see other favorites for iPhone shoe shopping apps.

iShoes is a delight in theory, with its close-ups on more than 50,000 shoes,  but you’d better have a decent 3G or wifi connection, or this puppy goes slow! It’s nice that you can find the intersection of say, “Mules” and “L.A.M.B.” However, tons of photos mean a longer time loading.

Lustr was an app that I first got acquainted with because of Fashion’s Night Out. It told me what was going on at all the stores for FNO so I could easily navigate the mouse maze that it was, but halfway through the crazed Manhattan night, it stopped working because it got logjammed with all the users. I haven’t used it a lot since, but I might start up again because they’ve updated it, and supposedly it gives you push notifications for the best nearby sales (see below right) just like Foursquare gives me push notifications for, say, a nearby restaurant that your Foursquare friend recommends.

Gilt’s iPhone app has been getting rave reviews, with ease of use and intuitive predictions of what else you might like to buy. I am a Gilt addict. I get great shoes and clothes there, and I’m psyched to finally have the Gilt app to buy cheap, beautiful designer shoes on.

Lucky at Your Service is another top-rated shopping app. Not only does it curate according to Lucky editors’ selections, but it helps you find those selections at stores nearby you. They can even call the store to reserve it for you to be picked up same day.

You missed myShoebox. Not exactly a shopping app, but you can create a wishlist, and see what is in your closet, all to make shopping that much easier!
