BeachMint has added another line to it’s group. It started with JewelMint with Kate Bosworth October 2010, then added StyleMint, a collection of t-shirts with the Olsen girls in July 2011, BeautyMint with Jessica Simpson in October 2011 and now Rachel Bilson has joined the group with ShoeMint, which went live not long ago.
Rachel and her stylist Nichole Chavez are the stylists, Steve Madden is the production guy. I don’t know if it will be only Steve Madden shoes or if there will be shoes he licenses – which is a huge spectrum of choices.
This is what the rest of the debut line looks like.
All styles are nearly all sold out, so things must be doing well. I would imagine as things get going, there will be many more choices than what is offered.
BeachMint calls itself ”social commerce.” It seems to be similar to Ideali and Gilt. There also seems to be a monthly membership charge. In the terms of service there is something about not ordering or not giving notice and monthly dues of $79.98, but I had an ADD attack and didn’t read it in detail.
To receive discounted merchandise, you fill out a profile and the fashion choices are supposed to fit your personality and style. When I filled out the profile questionnaire, it said I was so scattered they didn’t know what to do with me. Just kidding on that one.
In the mid 70s, I talked my mom into letting us order this make up kit of the month. Every month I got a box of make-up samples: eye shadows, cheek gloss, that kind of thing. Half the time they were for someone with a completely different coloring. I had to either send them a check, or send the make-up back. It was terrible. It took me about 6 months to figure out that I didn’t need new eye shadow every month.
The debut line has nothing I am interested in, but I think I am WAY out of their target audience. This could be a fun deal, but make sure you understand the terms of service, or you may be like me, getting charged every month for something you don’t want.
