Shoes of Project Runway 5.9
Posted on September 12th, 2008 by jitterbugbaby under Shoes of Project RunwayIn the madness of Fashion Week and its attendant glories, my Project Runway viewing was delayed this week. But never fear. The magic of TiVo prevented it from being lost altogether.
Although, you know what? It almost didn’t offer up anything at all for a Shoeblog post.
I mean, Kenley’s hideous Aquarius-inspired (though I can’t see it for the life of me) design made use of the Theory Sacha booties we’ve seen before.

And other than that, well… if you can find the shoes with the rest of those outfits then you’re a better searcher than I.
Some we just couldn’t see, like Jerell’s Sagittarian winner (hooray for my boy!) or Joe’s gorgeous fiery Aries gown.

Some were repeats of shoes used before, like Blayne’s Libra outfit, which caused Michael Kors to hysterically say, “She’s pooping fabric!”

And some had shoes that were visible, but seem to be hiding somewhere in the depths of Bluefly.com, like Leanne’s sexy femme fatale Scorpio dress or Suede’s nearly-eliminated Libra pajama set.

Can any of you find these shoes? Those adorable ankle-strap platforms with Leanne’s outfit are… well… adorable.
Stay tuned for next week, when the previews promise to show us Leanne working with the Nanette Lepore peep-toe pumps that I loved so much back here.

Blayne is finally Auf. I love that he has a unique perspective, but I think he needs 4 or 5 years to refine his taste & skill level so that he can be both flamboyant and also manage to have body-flattering lines. That boy has creativity coming out of every pore, but he needs to learn more about how to take that and turn it into something that women really will want to wear.
So, I didn’t expect Terri to be Auf this week. All it takes it one mistake though. And she made 2. Attitude with the judges (They really don’t like catfighting on collaborative challenges) plus as so-so outfit. She had the Fringemiester to back her up & didn’t just let him go to town on a towering fringed creation that would have made Chris March proud. This is a great way to teach my kids the word Hubris.
I really expected Kenley to be Auf this week. Really, another 1950’s retro style - only BIGGER. While her stuff is generally cute, it’s never gonna sell outside the Swing/retro & goth crowd. It’s probably a profitable enough niche if this gets her contracts or buyers, but I just don’t see her being top-3 competitive.
With Terri gone, that really leaves me with Leanne at the top followed by Korto, Joe & Jerell. Suede’s not quite at any of their level. At this point, it’s really a case of who makes the first mistake.
