Shoes: The New “It” Fashion Item of Our Times
Posted on March 22nd, 2008 by shoesense under Shoe TrendsOh, how long I’ve been waiting to run this headline! But you know, if the New York Times says it, it must be true! Bill Cunningham, the photographer who so aptly captures the spirit of the time in his “Style on the Street” series in the NYT put up a maahvelous slide show on shoes (photographed in Paris) which captured his imagination and made him pronounce that yes, the shoes have completely replaced the handbag as the “it” fashion item. It’s been tentatively said before–I think people started saying it just about the time the spring collections started coming in–but I guess it’s becoming more definitive now.
So, shoe-lovers, rejoice! One more reason you can go ahead and indulge your passion. It’s practically your solemn duty as fashionistas to add more gorgeous styles to your collection. And by all means, go find some inspiration in this beautiful slide show (leave the sound on; and try not to drool too much over the keyboard):

I love the slideshow and especially your selection. I’ve seen that diamond patterned shoe before, but can’t seem to find it now. Everything about it is very Miu Miu but I can’t find it used in their S/S 08 Show. Please help. I’m dying for that shoe.

Diana, if you’re talking about the harlequin pump, it’s on the neimans website. I think it’s Prada but can’t recall for sure.
Does anyone know who makes this shoe? I need it. http://i25.tinypic.com/icqlpj.jpg
Thanks!

Great job, Heids–that’s one good looking shoe, if I may say. Post a pic on our forums when you get them!

Well, I am sad to report that the shoes arrived today - and they have WAY too much toe cleavage. I’m sending them back because they actually look weird on.
DANG!

What a bummer! But hey–more opportunities to hunt for shoes–which is not bad at all!
