Skins for your Bones
Posted on February 2nd, 2007 by shoesense under GeneralHave you heard of this? There’s a new concept in footwear ready to hit the market some time in Spring 2007–and it’s called Skins. The concept is pretty ingenious: a 2-part shoe consisting of an inner orthopedic support section (the ‘Bone’) and an outer collapsible shell–the ‘Skin’. The idea is that you can buy one ‘Bone’ and multiple ‘Skins’, thus customizing your fit for a variety of shoes. Here are some examples:
I can’t help but notice the obvious limited applications of the concept to flat, sporty, and casual shoes. Not that there’s anything wrong with those, I love to be comfortable just like anyone else, and these designs are rather cute. The company also produces men’s shoes, and their website has a video about how the two layers work together to complete a shoe. Ingenious–but will it catch?
