Sole Attraction
Posted on August 25th, 2008 by galligator under General, Irregular Choice Shoes, Poetic LicenceI can’t help it, I’m a sucker for all things pretty, romantic, retro, glam, goth; what I think of as fabulous but affordable luxuries. And one thing that I find truly fabulous on a shoe is a sensational sole. The details and attention that show on the top of the shoe have historically received the primary artistic focus. However, when the designer has thoughtfully added a bit of art to the underside of the shoe, well, that’s just a cool and unexpectedly delightful present for the wearer. It’s a bit of a sweet little secret you can enjoy all by yourself.
Here is a look at some of the surprises that might await you should you peek at the underside of the shoes around you.
The only downside to these is that several of these are almost too ephemeral in existence; their secret will naturally disappear with time and wear. However, I still love that someone has taken the extra thought and effort to make even the non-visible portions of these shoes amazing. As if I needed one more reason to love shoes!

I love it! Even though as you said, it’s pretty pointless, it’s somehow nice, as they look more “complete”.

Superb!
Incredible, very nice shoe soles. I love this. Very nice looking pattern.

My husband has a few pairs of Mark Nasons. The sole on his has worn off in beautiful ways, actually — the first thing that happened on one of them was that the design became picked out in bright blue, because there’s a blue underlayer on the sole. Pretty cool stuff!
Someday I’ll get around to getting some of the women’s Nasons.

At least with the Siren by Mark Nason you’d leave a pretty footprint! I love the Betsey Johnson sole designs.

Lovely!
They put the soul into the sole.
And the boots on top must make a nice impression (in the mud as well).
I like the Marylin one.
