Spring 2010 Shoe Trend Alert: The return of the clogs

posted by: Shomore in Celebrity Shoe Style, Shoe Trends, spring 2010 shoes on March 31st, 2010

If the sound of those wooden soles hitting the pavement wasn’t enough to convince you that clogs are one of the shoe trends for spring 2010, check out how many celebrities are embracing the trend.

Clockwise from top:  Sarah Jessica Parker on the the set of SATC2 wearing Swedish HasBeens Clogs (available at Endless.com), Alexa Chung, Ashlee Simpson, and one of the Olsen twins

Okay, I’m almost onboard, but these clogs, as seen on the Chanel Spring 2010 runway are a bit, make that a lot, out of my price range.

Chanel Platform Clog $945 at Nordstroms Salon Shoes

Chanel Platform Suede, Wood, Metal with Signature Captoe Clog $1,275 at Nordstroms Salon Shoes

Steve by Steve Madden has the attractively priced ‘Bresi’ clog at $139 on Endless.com.  I like the rubber trend which will prevent me from slipping onto my tush but a 4.5 inch heel seems a bit too much.

But the UGG Abby Clog, available in 3 different shades of black or 3 different shades of brown, is on sale at Zappos.com for $130.  With the padded cushioned footbed, lowe heel, and rubber bottom, I’m soled.

Love the UGG Aby Clog. How about the Chanel Platform though, $1275? Might be a bit outside my price range :-)

I am starting to like the clog trend! I found a very similiar pair to the ones that SJP is wearing. The brand is called J SHOES. You can find them at shopjshoes.com Also, I love that celebrities are starting to wear them more.

I don't mind the pair SJP is wearing. Not took keen on the covered ones.

I hate the clog trend with an absolute passion. What is the purpose of clogs? You can achieve the same look with boots or booties especially. They're sloppy, clunky and unfinished looking, and as much as I love Chanel, I hated their clogs too. Why would I spend $1,275 on a replaceable, fad-ish shoe that will be so far OUT as quickly as it was in? I could by a beautiful pair of Jimmy Choos or Louboutins.

I've always loved clogs, but like with most fashion it all depends on whether or not it was in style when you were growing up.

LOVE the Olsen wedge. I am surprised Alexa Chung is wearing clogs. She usually wears booties. Anyways, I have an inexpensive pair in my endless shopping cart, but I still have to get past the "horses on pavement" sound they make when you walk.
