Chewbacca Sandals?

It must be close to Halloween. Otherwise, how am I supposed to take these sandals seriously? I came across these today and immediately realized that these are the Perfect Fringed Sandal- for the girl who is partying as a Wookie (or, if she’s short like me, an Ewok*) or heck, Bigfoot.

*Please pardon me, my geek is showing.

Here is the shoe (Zucca Brown Fringed Sandals $284 at Creatures of Comfort):

Here is Chewbacca:

And here is Wicket:

Can you look at the sandal and come up with an outfit that doesn’t scream out ‘Hobbit Feet’. These are like nightmare, shorty Uggs for Summertime; apparently these are for those occasions when a knee-high, furry,  Yeti-esque boot is just too hot to be practical.

I just popped over to Smartbargains.com to see what they have on their site this week. Their stock of shoes changes frequently and I never know just what I’m going to find.

So, what do I trip across but a playful and self-referencing casual shoe; pretty much Pop-art for your feet. With a whimsical, shoe-printed graphic upper, it is a perfect gift for the shoe-a-holic in your life.

Donald J. Pliner “Cavat” in white or black printed canvas; $79.97 for a 58% savings:

Aren’t these just adorable?

Shoe Deal of the Day: All Black Skin Flats

Posted by webmaster in Spot the Shoe on Sale

The weather is finally warming up and I’m dying to wear flats again. These All-Black natural fish scale flats are a great way to step out with a classic style that wears well with skinny jeans to the summery dress. They are $109 at Endless.com, but I found them greatly discount at 70% off at  ShopIntuition - only $30.99.

And if you compare these flats to the python Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, which are going for $395 at Barneys, the $30 pricetag makes it a steal.

It’s all in the details

Posted by shoesense in Flats, Hot Shoe Deals and Steals, Nine West

I don’t know about you, but for me, a shoe is often made by its details. Well, unless you’re talking about custom-made $1500+ John Lobb shoes, where materials and craftsmanship stand above anything frilly like that; but when we’re talking a middle-of-the road, good but not extraordinary, moderately-to-low price shoe, you know not to expect the finest leathers, or 40 hrs of labor going into each pair. No, you expect cheap, affordable shoes made for next to nothing in some factory in China, but which are fun, spunky, and will satisfy you trendy tooth for a season or so.

That is why I’m delighted with this “vertical” rather than “horizontal” buckle in this Nine West flat (which, btw, is 20% off at Piperlime, going for $62.50, so grab it while you can):

See what I mean? Most buckled shoes feature the buckle perpendicular over the vamp (as if it actually buckles something, mhmph). This one runs in line with your toes, as a rather ironic commentary to the futility of erstwhile utilitarian details. This rather small, but delightfully inventive decoration makes an otherwise so-and-so jacquard in a neutral color scheme stand out in a crowd. I approve!
