This Week in Shoes

- Christian Louboutin is interviewed by the Times UK. Quoteworthy? You decide:

“I prefer shoes that undress to shoes that dress,” he states. “A successful shoe is a shoe that accentuates nudity. The woman remains entirely nude when she wears those shoes. The shoe becomes the privilege of nudity.”

…“There’s the sexy side, and then there is the Parisian side, which is complementary but also the opposite. If you are very chic you might not need an extra drop of chicness, so you go for the sexy side and buy my shoes because they are…” — Louboutin grasps around for the right word — “tarty. We get very smart women coming in and buying a pair to feel a little more sluttish. And then, thank God,” he exclaims, “we also get the hookers coming in the store, who buy my shoes because they are superchic. You see, whatever you have, if you add a drop of the opposite, then it just becomes a little more sexy.”

- Target has announced two new designer collaborations for Spring 2010; including a shoe-line designed by Cynthia Vincent and hats by Eugenia Kim.

- TheStyleChild give recommendations on Fall Tights.

- The NY Times talks about the science involved in high heels.

- Beyonce Crowd Surfs in bodystocking & heels at the London Halo 02 arena:

- And, in case you hadn’t heard, nearly 100 people competed last Friday in the National Stiletto Championship in Paris.

Oh, and here’s the money quote, “Volunteers from the Red Cross were on standby in case of accident.”

Shoes of the 2009 AMA’s

Posted by galligator in Christian Louboutin Shoes, Fall 2009 Shoes, Giuseppe Zanotti Shoes, High heels, Just for Kicks, Oscar Red Carpet Shoes, Platforms, Pumps, Sandals, Sigerson Morrison Shoes, spring 2010 shoes

I am not much of a celebrity watcher. But, as might be expected, I am a shoe-watcher. So, despite my general cluelessness on who’s who these days in Hollywood, I love looking at the fashion photos of red-carpet events like yesterday’s AMA’s.

By the way, it drives me nuts that you can get fashion coverage of what folks wore, but they almost never mention the shoes as a part of this!!!

Am I the only person driven bonkers by this oversight?

Now I am left trying to wrack my brain in an attempt to remember who makes which shoe, etc. It’s enough to give a girl a migraine.

So, a quick rundown of some of the shoes seen on the AMA red carpet along with who makes them…in cases where my memory is actually serving me today. (Celeb photos are c/o Huffington Post & Popsugar)

Kristen Bell in Christian Louboutin:

Christian Louboutin ‘Archidisco’ $995

Colbie Caillat in what looks an awfully lot like a non-platform version of Louboutin’s ‘Ambro’ lace pump:

Christian Louboutin  ‘Ambro’ $825
(A similar budget style is available here.)

Alicia Keys…I should know this shoe & it’s driving me nuts. Somebody help me since my memory has completely betrayed me on these brilliant blue sandals:

Rihanna, sporting the Marchessa cut-out dress we saw recently. Love it or hate it, these white ankle-strap pums paired beautifully with this dress. (No, I haven’t figured out the maker of these shoes yet, either.)

Leona Lewis in chain-bedecked booties.

While her boots are probably not the exact ones I am showing here, these are the closest I could find on at the moment to a match for her booties:

Bakers Shoes ‘Julee’ (Another similar style is ‘Flash’ by Dolce Vita)

And I’ll end this with another shoe for whom I can’t find the maker, but have found a few strappy-alternatives that I would be just as happy to wear.

Carrie Underwood:

If you like these uber-strappy sandals, maybe one of these would also tempt you:

Sigerson Morrison ‘9438′

Guiseppe Zanotti Strappy Leather Sandal

Dior Cartagena Sandals

Edited to add: Found the Jimmy Choos at Bluefly!!!!

Jimmy Choo ‘Verity’ $876 $1095

Louboutin Dresses Barbie

Posted by Shomore in Christian Louboutin Shoes

Update: The lifesize Louboutin Claudia peep-toe for Barbie is available now at LuisAviaAroma for $956.

Back in September, Twinkletoes reported on Barbie’s 50th birthday show and bubble gum pink Louboutin shoes designed for the lucky doll.  The collaboration is not limited to just the shoes though.   WWD reports that Christian Louboutin will serve as Barbie’s godfather for the next few months and that means an entire series of Barbie/Louboutin-centric products, including a diary that showcases Barbie and Louboutin on various adventures around the world:

And dolls that come packaged with their own pairs of Louboutin heels, each in Louboutin branded shoe boxes.   For Barbie and Louboutin collectors, the accessories and dolls will be sold exclusively through BarbieCollector.com and Net-a-porter.com starting in December and throughout 2010.  The dolls will sell for $150, the diary $40, and a 12 pair Louboutin Barbie shoe collection will go for $40.

Asked about the recent controversy that Louboutin felt Barbie had fat cankles, Louboutin issued a statement to clear the air:

Barbie’s foot has always been shaped less ‘curvy’ than the rest of her perfect body,” he said. “I just added my little science to Barbie and I’ve been proud to serve her. But fat ankles she didn’t have, she just could have had thinner ankles. That’s all.

My God, what a story, he said, reacting to the controversy. I apologize to my goddaughter [Barbie]. There has been a bit of confusion there, but it’s just the proof that Barbie has real serious fans.

Spring 2010 Christian Louboutin Heels for Marchesa

Posted by Shomore in Christian Louboutin Shoes, Fashion Week, spring 2010 shoes

Bare with me.  I’m still catching up with fashion week and though these posts are a a bit late, I would be remiss not to share the gorgeous Christian Louboutin shoes worn by the models for Marchesa’s equally stunning Spring 2010 collection.

First up is this beautiful cutout black and white Marchesa dress. The collection was supposedly inspired by Madame Butterfly. I love the twists and turns on this dress and wonder how the curvy design remains intact.  The model is wearing patent mesh ankle boots with this dress.   If the shoes look familiar, they are indeed very similar to the Louboutin’s Bridget and Bridget Strass shoe, which most of you liked seeing on Sarah Jessica Parker in a scene from SATC 2, the most.    The mesh bootie shows how curled up these model’s toes were.  I would pity her except she gets to wear this dress.

Here’s a white version of the Louboutin heel we just saw except the heel cap seems to have a bit more texture.  The bow on the dinner jacket reminds me of a wedding cake.

Louboutin seems to favor see-through, mesh detailing for spring.  Here’s a  fuschia peep-toe creation with weaved embroidery.

If I wasn’t already married, I would want to buy these Louboutin shoes for my wedding.  Hmm, maybe we should renew our vows. :)

Lovely and Lacey Louboutins for Fall

Posted by galligator in Boots, Christian Louboutin Shoes, Fall 2009 Shoes, High heels, Platforms, Pumps, Trend Alert

Today I just wanted to give our readers some happy Saturday eye-candy.

So, I went straight to Louboutin in search of some drool-worthy choices. What I found were variations on timeless lace.

This first one is my favorite, even if the shape is all wrong for my particular feet. The all-over lace and that peek of red sole are superbly matched.

Christian Louboutin ‘Ronda Dina’ 140 mm platform pumps; $1025 at Net-a-porter.

But, if you are more of an ankle-boot gal, this next style may be more your speed.  Cute horizontal lace patterns make this a nice update on a classic allover lace boot.

Christian Louboutin ‘Paola’ 100mm ankle boots; $1155 at Net-a-porter.

(The Paola is also available on pre-order at Saks)

For a more conservative take (using the same lace as the Paola), is this classic pump designed with a lower, sturdy heel. This is a great look that is not likely to go out of style.

Christian Louboutin ‘Ambro’ lace peep-toe pump; $825 at Nieman Marcus.

Finally, for you gals that like to show off a bit of bad-girl vibe, check out this shoe-confection made with lace, studs, and a zipper bow. This is glam-rock for a new generation.

Christian Louboutin ‘Candy Stud’ pumps $965 at Saks.com.

So, this is just one designer’s take on lace. Are you anticipating more fabulous lace creations from other designers this fall?

I know I am.
