Talk like a Pirate Day.
Posted on September 19th, 2008 by galligator under Boots, General, Isabella Fiore Shoes, Shoe History Corner, Shoe TrendsAhoy Matey and Shiver me Timbers, it be International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Never heard of it? Check out the official web-page Here. If you’re feeling punchy, you can also find your true Pirate Name (I am apparently Black Morgan Kidd).
Yes indeed, September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day; a rather young holiday that is slowly growing its public awareness and gaining more fans every year. Maybe it’s that whole ‘excuse to annoy your co-workers and drink rum’ quality that folks find appealing? Of course, any excuse to drink rum and misbehave has all the earmarks of an instant holiday classic. Adding obscure and barely intelligible speech into the mix is just the the topper. Too bad I don’t happen to own a parrot.
Not sure how to speak appropriately for the occasion? Here is a handy Dictionary of Terms to help you out. Or, if you like, you can just type your modern speech into this handy pirate-speak translator.
Oh, and don’t forget your Pirate Boots. You do want to look the part, correct?
(Translation: Ahoy, and don’t be forgettin’ yer Pirate Boots. You do want t’ look the part, Aye? Gar, Where can I find a bottle o’rum?):
Isabella Fiore ‘Greenland’ boot, $305.00 at Zappos.com:
Or, Pleaser’s ‘Pirate 130′ for $60.00 Zappos.com/ $49.95 Endless.com.
Kick up yer booted heels and have fun with it. Gar.

Great boots! I own a pair of the black with red lace boots…and I think they need to see the light of day again.

How on earth did you find those!!!! I also made a TLAPD post over in my blog and while I found some really great boots, my google plundering failed me because I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t too costume-y. Great finds.

Jennifer - I don’t remember how I found them, except that it was one of my many online window shopping jaunts at Zappos. I maintain a wishlist there to keep for both ‘me’ items & blog items. There were lots of cuff boot styles to choose from. If I weren’t so tight about what I will spend on a pair of shoes (and I will go a little higher for boots), I’d be on those Isabelle Fiore in a heartbeat. Cuffed ‘pirate’ boots seem to be on an uptrend. Maybe they’ll still be in next year & I can post about SeaFair, which you may have heard of when you were in the PAC NW.
Love the Corset on your blog.
