The Best Doorstop Ever

We are one of those unfortunate apartment dwellers who have one of the most annoying apartment front doors in the world.

Annoying in the sense that it will never stay open. The wedge of wood our landlords provided is a futile substitute for a proper doorstop when we are loading groceries or furniture in, which lately is all the time.

What I’d really like is a pair of shoe doorstops.

It’s pretty clear that these were made as doorstops, since they were much smaller than regular shoes. It’s a good thing too, or someone might have run away with them on their feet, as they were pretty cute.

You can find an assortment of shoe doorstops, from the Wicked Witch of the East’s famous striped legs and ruby shoes, to a cast-iron Victorian-looking buttoned boot. The one pictured looks to be made by Fred, and comes in both red and black. (Be forewarned that one reviewer online said that the Fred one does not work on hardwood floors).
