The Leather Spa’s Top Shoe Services

It had been a long time, years, since I had been to Shoe Service Plus, my longtime favorite New York shoe repair shop, which I have raved about before to you guys. I had been living in San Francisco and just last year returned to living permanently in New York. I was surprised to find recently that the store has moved across the street and is now The Leather Spa.

In addition to its 55th Street location, there is now a location in The Plaza.

I am very happy to say that the new location is much more organised, with the upstairs for drop-offs and the downstairs for pick-ups. There is also a large supply of sprays and insoles.

The prices and policies are prominently displayed in the front, warning that cleaning, dying, stretching, storage and shoe repair all have their liabilities.

Here are some of the amazing collection of arches and insoles they have, with nice, neat little descriptions and prices. I love it!

Hurray for the new Leather Spa! It’s very expensive, but if you’ve got a pair of designer shoes you don’t trust to anyone else, take em here! I saw a woman dropping off numerous Louboutins and Prada when I dropped my humble Cole Haans off, and she said she is very happy with their service. And don’t forget to treat yourself to the proper insoles; it’s very important for your foot health!

Your site is quite interesting and very well written. I like the way it is organized and presented. Very concise and articulate. I also gain knowledge from this post.

Great job here. I really enjoyed what you had to say. Keep going because you definitely bring a new voice to this subject. Not many people would say what you’ve said and still make it interesting

In the United States and several other jurisdictions, trading conducted by corporate officers, key employees, directors, or significant shareholders (in the U.S., defined as beneficial owners of ten percent or more of the firm's equity securities) must be reported to the regulator or publicly disclosed, usually within a few business days of the trade.

I dropped off six pairs of shoes, and went to pick them within 1 week. After reviewing my shoes, I discovered that my never worn Gucci wedges were missing. I pointed out to Nilse that a pair of shoes were missing. She looked at the ticket and noticed that there were six pairs listed on the ticket, but only five pairs of shoes in the bag that was brought to the front. After Nilse spoke with Julio, she came back and told me that I had already picked up the shoes. Then Julio and Fabian came over and tried to convince me that I had already picked up the Gucci wedges. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. It was my word again Julio and Fabian. I realized that they misplaced my shoes, or gave them to another customer. Instead of stating that the shoes were misplaced. Julio and Fabian tried to convince me that I picked up the wedges already and that I was a liar. After several minutes of debating with Julio and Fabian. They realized that I was not going to back down, and told me that they would look for the shoes. When I called later that afternoon the store manager Josephine did not know anything about the missing shoes. When I spoke to her the next time she was very condescending to me as if I were some con artist that was trying to scam the store. At this point I requested for someone to review the security camera which will show me dropping off the six pairs of shoes. After several phone calls later, Josephine informs me that David Mesquita (The Leather Spa owner) reviewed the tape and only counted five pairs of shoes. I demanded to see the video tape and threaten to involve the New York Police Department. Less than 4 hours later, I received a message that they reviewed the camera footage again and discovered that I dropped off six pairs of shoes. By the end of the business day I received another message stating that they had found the missing Gucci wedges.

During this process, I requested for David to call me, but he never returned my phone calls. The Leather Spa staff made me feel like I was lying or I was a scam artist. They were extremely condensing to me, and acted like there was no way that they could have made a mistake. It is disappointing that I had to threaten them to involve the NYPD in order for my shoes to magically appear. I will never patronize this establishment again!!!

they do an amazing job there! i've brought all my louboutins there to get rubber soles, makes them a lot less slippery. they even could fix my metallic leather booties, which others have trouble with. i'd recommend them to anyone!

My town has two. So far I've only tried one. It's run by an octogenarian who is hard of hearing & handles the everyday sales & orders & then there is the cobbler who you never see but does the actual repairs 2-4 times per week. I'm afraid to ask, because what if the guy at the service counter is the son in a father/son biz?

This place is pretty amazing, I must say. Expensive, but worth it for your best shoes. What are the ones in your area like?
