We were just discussing over in the forums the so-called ‘natural’ trend this spring–using earthy, organic, fiber-based materials to make shoes and other accessories. So, here are a few examples to jolt your inspiration:
Kors Salem Stretch Hemp Thongs, $160 at Intermixonline. This ‘back to nature’ sandal has a glam twist – the 1/4 inch platinum leather thong strap that you slip between your toes. The soles seem to be wood, which, while certainly keeping it ‘natural’, sounds pretty uncomfortable to me.
I happen to really, really like these d’Orsay cork pumps:
The Loeffler Randall Hazel Metallicized Cork Pumps are $355 at Intermixonline. For an added touch of glamor, they are flecked with gold metallic striations.
And finally, a little something from your original green designer:
The Stella McCartney Woven Straw Thong Sandals are a bit on the pricey side, of course ($595 at Intermix; who said it is so easy being green? think again!). They feature chunky heels and thick criss-cross straps at the upper foot.
Um…they all come in ‘natural’, but I guess that’s kind of obvious, right?
