-Manolo Blahnik receives the Walk of Style Award. For those females who might feel that spending $700 to $1000 for a pair of fabulous Manolo Blahnik shoes is beyond their financial means, the designer has a simple suggestion. Don’t try to be Carrie Bradshaw, with hundreds of pairs and no money in the bank.
This is my philosophy. It’s like funny, it’s stupid, but maybe it makes sense. I think women should buy one pair, just one pair, and that will last a long time. Invest in that one pair. This is the one thing people can do. [Fashion Wire Daily]

Holy crap Lucy Liu’s shoes are awesome. I just don’t think that the advice proferred by Mr. Blahnik makes complete sense. Sure, I could invest $700 is a gorgeous pair of stilettoes, but then what would I wear when it was raining? Or if I wanted to go hiking? Or if I wanted to walk down a NY street (those subway grates are heel killers)?
In summary - is the advice to spend all the moola on the one pair of beautiful museum quality shoes and skimp on the practical ones?

As long as I can get a $200 pair I love on clearance for $50, $700 will still be too much for anything but a rare fantasy shoe. Others have different tastes & priorities.
