This Week in Shoes

-In this economy, most designers are scaling back on opulent and extravagant shoes, but apparently Roger Vivier may not have received the various memos. Thank goodness, too. The £30,000 uber couture shoes are divine and often a welcomed temporary distraction. [ via ShoeWawa]

-Another designer who did get the recession memos but decided to add his sense of irony was Christian Louboutin who designed these $6k+ Marie Antoinette inspired shoes. According to Glamour, the press email even came with this note “Even in the midst of dark economic times, there is always room for art, beauty and craftsmanship in its purist form.” [via Glamour and FashionWeekDaily]
-For Valentine’s Day, ShoeMall put together an interesting, fun contest. Each entry submitted a digital photo of the outfits both members of the date would be wearing for V-Day. It’s too late to enter (sorry, I was out sick this week and couldn’t get out of bed to post). However, you can vote on the shoe choices for the outfits and the winners will receive their shoes by V-Day. Plus, everyone can save 20% off every order by entering code IHEARTYOU. [via ShoeMall]
- One contest you CAN still enter is Luxaholic’s week of shoes giveaway. Designers involved in the giveaway include L.A.M.B, Badgley Mischka Couture, DAVIS by Ruthie Davis, and Hayden-Harnett. [via Luxaholics]
