Toe Caps Used to Perfection
I have mixed feelings about shoes with toe caps in contrasting colors. Sometimes they don’t work for me at all and end up looking sort of clownish.
But sometimes they work oh so right. Like two shoes I just found at Shopfatal.com, which stocks goodies from lots of hard to find designers.
The first example of toe caps gone right is Bernhard Willhelm’s Lea ankle bootie (available in this pretty butter yellow with kelly green toe cap or a more understated black with yellow toe cap for $470), which combines a classic Chanel-like chain with a decidedly funky wave pattern edge.

And the second is this Taka-Naka spectator-inspired platform wedge, which is silk with satin laces and will set you back $560. But I just love how the toe cap contrast is continued on the platform and echoed in the back. And the lacing hits that oxford styling that’s so hot right now. This shoe would have looked great with the Viktor&Rolf Pierrot clothes at Paris Fashion Week.

Veering off topic from the excellent toe caps, I have to post this other Taka-Naka boot, too, because it’s so incredibly fabulous and pretty to look at. Not so pretty to walk in, I’m sure (and none-too-pretty on the wallet either at $690), but oo la la.
