I’ve just come back from a whirlwind trip around Europe and am feeling rather overwhelmed because on my very last day, I lost the camera where I took all my shoe photos in Berlin, Barcelona and London! Sigh.

One of the brands I remember seeing all over Europe, particularly in Barcelona, was called United Nude. They work primarily with negative space, strange heels and angular shapes, but they still manage to be lovely, simple, fashion forward and elegant, reminding me of incredible little pieces of architecture. And now I know why! Their unique designs, including the trademark Mobius shoe, are designed by Rem D. Koolhaas, nephew of THE superstar architect Rem Koolhaas, and Galahad Clark, a seventh-generation shoemaker from the Clark’s shoe dynasty. What better pedigree could a shoe line get than those two? It’s like having a little building with an airy courtyard on your foot!

Even lovelier still, apparently the award-winning Mobius shoe was designed in an attempt to win a woman back! Was this woman crazy, not wanting to be with the rare straight male designer who could bring a tear to a woman’s eye with his sparsely elegant shoes? She must have been a bag gal.

Here are a few of my favorites.

The Mobius HI above is $225.

The Eamz Ankle Buckle is $255.

The Eamz Pump is $275.

The daringly/humorously named Porn Toe, meanwhile, is $235.

The Cosmo is $485.
