I love the Valentino brand. I love everything from the label, and have especially loved what I’ve seen since Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri were named as creative directors. However, in addition to loving this particular shoe, there’s another reason I chose to showcase Valentino’s Bow-Topped Over-the-Knee Boots ($1,595 at Neiman Marcus). That reason is (drum roll, please): the color.
The boot is typically available in black as well, but Neiman Marcus is currently sold out. That’s all right, because my interest resides solely around this plush, rich blush shade. You don’t normally see knee high boots in anything but black – or if a certain style has a color like this available, it is rarely ever the focus in the advertisement. That’s what first caught my eye, along with the fact that, even in the picture, the napa leather looks as soft as butter.
I love napa leather, and here it looks sleek and flawless. To further lengthen the line of the boot as well as your legs, there is a simple, single seam running along the length of the front. To the side is the eponymous bow, along with a little shirring above it – too cute and super feminine! It has a zipper on the inside and the 4 inch heel is covered. As for the shirring on top, there is also a slit there, right on the back of the boot. This allows you to wear the top folded if you like, for supreme versatility.
What do you think of the color? Too plain Jane, or delicately pretty?
