Valentino Red

Red has guts…. deep, strong, dramatic. A geranium red. A Goya red…
Women usually prefer to wear black at events because it makes them feel safe. However, if there’s one woman wearing red, she will inevitably be the eyecatcher of the evening. It’s as though the room is suddenly illuminated- simply perfect for a grand entrance.-Valentino
Valentino’s red is a mixture of 100% magenta, 100% yellow and 10% black on the CMYK color model. I remember when I was a kid and my parents owned a photo studio and development store (at the same time that they owned the shoe store!), and they were developing photos and balancing the colors, always trying to bring out the perfect Arizona red or ocean blue from people’s vacation photos. That perfect Valentino red is hard to find in a lipstick sometimes.
How breathtakingly gorgeous is this mannequin?
I felt convinced that it would come to life at any moment.
In honor of Valentino Red or as those lovely Italians might call it, rosso Valentino, I thought I’d share a couple favorites from Saks’ new arrivals.
The Valentino Couture Bow Slingbacks are $695.
The Valentino Side Bow Peep-Toe Pumps are $695.

It makes me a bit sad that the boyfriend looks great in red but I don't. My skin tone does not jive well with red.

I love all the red! In fact, it’s one of the colors that really looks good on me…so I might just have to rock a “little RED dress” for my next dress-up event. And red heels are always a good idea, especially around Valentine’s Day.

Red pumps are a must have in the closet. Not sure about those bows though!

I Love love love Valentino red. I am a gold redhead, so the yellow reds look great on me. These shoes are some of the prettiest I have seen in a long time.
Reds come and go in and out of style, especially when looking at fabrics. Some years it is difficult to find a blue red, other years that is all you can find which makes it difficult for fiber artists.

These are lovely, but for some of us this is a borderline color
Once you start adding yellow into the mix, my skin does not fare well. I usually need a touch of blue in my reds or I don't look healthy….which doesn't stop me from trying things on anyway.
