Vintage/Americana: An Important 2011 Trend

Women’s Wear Daily just took a poll that asked readers what they thought was going to be the most important trend for 2011.  This poll showed that Vintage and Americana will be on the top of next year’s shoe trend.  We saw this in many shoe lines and on the runways.  Let’s look at what we could be wearing this coming year.  The poll result, I think, is influenced by increasingly casual lifestyles.

Maeble on sale for $79 at Ninewest.com

This pair of Wolverines will be  my next boot purchase.  Love them.  They will last forever and will get better the more I wear them.

The kings of American, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren have offered shoes that have an updated Americana feel.

Bixby Runway Sandals $295 at Net-a-Porter

Norma Suede Runway Boot $700 at RalphLauren.com

I think the term “Americana” is interesting since there really is nothing new under the sun.  The vintage styles in America were European styles that were just adapted a bit.  So, I am asking everyone, but specifically our non-American readers,  do you see “Vintage and  Americana”  as an important footwear trend for 2011?
