What Are You Wearing This Season?

My holiday season this year has been quite casual. We host a couple of really fun farm hayrides that require cowboy boots. As the host, I haven’t had time to focus on holiday shoes. Those parties are over, so now it is time to look at flashy shoes.
So after poking around online I found some flashy shoes that are too expensive for me to consider, a pair that will make me think twice, and a pair that won’t make me feel bad if I tuck them back into their box never to be worn for 6 months. Let’s look at some flashy shoes.
My over the top choice:
Zanotti Crystal Chunky Heel $1500 at Neiman Marcus. Love the chunky heel. Love the large crystals. Love the shoe.
My think twice shoes:
Dolce & Gabbana Lace and Glitter pump on sale $354 at Nordstroms
The shoes I will probably buy: I have been looking at these shoes for ever. Love the color, love the cut.

Fever2 by Stuart Weitzman $185 at Zappos
Heels are dramatic and all,but after standing all evening, it is nice to not be crippled the next morning. These shoes are adorable.
French Sole Via $200 at Nordstroms

I will wear the same things I wear at any other season. The same as everyone else here does, I have never heard of people having special holiday season shoes. Special occasion shoes, yes, but not shoes for all of the Christmas period. Is this a peculiarly American thing? Like the odd white shoes and Labour Day custom?

I am not sure it is a particularly American thing, but I am such a mess that I am always looking for an excuse to buy flashy shoes. I usually have two or three business parties that require Special occasion shoes, and will usually wear the same pair of shoes and different outfits.
It is funny that you mention the odd white shoes in Labour Day. Something that the 20-something kids are doing is having ugly Christmas outfit or ugly Christmas sweater parties. I asked someone, "Why in the world would you want to intentionally dress ugly?" I do enough of that unintentionally.

If I could purchase anything this holiday season, it would be a sparkly sequined pair from Ferragamo, but as it is, it looks like I'll be tromping through London with my snow boots on since I'm a wimp and can't deal with cold weather of any kind.
