What to wear in the summertime…really?
Posted on July 27th, 2008 by shoesense under High heels, Sandals, Shoe TrendsThat’s Bill Cunningham’s sentiment in the New York Times upon capturing shots of women in either ridiculously high heels or in ridiculously multi-buckled gladiators:
Mr. Cunningham is worried about the pain your feet will face the next morning after an afternoon of teetering on such heels, or the utter impracticality of having to fasten the approximately 2,367 buckles on that woman’s sandals in 98 degree weather. I have to say that I share his concerns! Turn the audio when you want to see the slideshow to listen to his commentary!
UPDATE: The link provided by the NYT didn’t initially work, sorry for that. I think I got the right link now.

these links don’t work! * I recently saw a woman wearing a similar gladiator sandal with many buckles… the buckles were a bit tight on her so the flesh on her leg was being sqeezed and bulging out wherever a buckle wrapped around… yikes!

You’ll get a kick out of this one — I’ve seen this trend of hot pants worn with knee high converses lately. Young girls are wearing it a lot this summer.

I have a pair of the first black platforms. But walking around in them on a daily basic even if it is summer? Uh and as for the buckle sandals. Way to many buckles just to take a walk in the park.

galdiators… I love em… Im not too sure about strapping on all those buckles all the way up to my knees, I would probably just keep them ankle high or mid calf at most
as for the first ones… like them but defenately not for day time also the hight is a little exagerated
