What?!? Wearing patent shoes are illegal?
Posted on August 17th, 2007 by Shomore under GeneralTonight, while surfing the web, I stumbled across two weird shoes laws that had me laughing and scratching my head.
Did you know that it is illegal for women in Cleveland, Ohio to wear patent leather shoes? And further south, in Mobile, Alabama women are prohibited from wearing sharp, high heels.
Eh? It’s strange, but true (at least accordingly to the sources below). Apparently, our wise and protective lawmakers once decided that shiny patent footwear may reflect and accidentally give men a little peep show of our underwear. And what about those high heels? Well, they may get caught on a sidewalk, cause injury, and we may end up suing the city for causing us the injury.
Fortunately, women of Cleveland and Alabama, fear not. You can still remain fashionable and wear the reflective or sometimes uncomfortable but leg lengthening shoe. These laws are quite antiquated and are not enforced.
