Win a pair of Nina Shoes
posted by: Shomore in General, Shoe Contests on March 25th, 2009
For spring, we’ve got a great shoe giveaway to spruce up your warm weather wardrobe and to help you accessorize for the proms, graduation parties, and wedding parties you’ll be attending so you’ll be the most glamorous girl there.
Our generous sponsor, Nina Footwear, is donating a pair of fabulous Nina shoes of your choice. If the brand sounds familiar, that’s probably because Nina is a shoe brand that’s known for having glamorous-looking shoes at accessible prices, like these cream Nina Cathie shoes, which can be had for $102.
Nina shoes have also been featured in wedding movies like 27 Dresses and more recently in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic (see those shoe boxes with an “N” on the right).
To enter to win a pair of Nina Shoes, leave a comment with TWO things.
- As a shopaholic, share with us your favorite shopping moment. The founder of Net-a-Porter, Natalie Massenet, found an authentic Hermès Kelly bag for $10. What were your great finds? Bonus points will go out to those that email us at admin@shoeblog.com with a picture or video, but leaving text is certainly alright as well.
- Visit the NinaShoes.com website and tell us which pair you want to win. The winner of the contest will get the pair of shoes they selected or an alternative choice if their size and style isn’t available.
Nina Shoes will pick the winner based on the response they like the best. So now what are you waiting for, enter the contest by 5pm Wednesday April 15st PST. We look forward to hearing from you.

My mom is an amazing women she really does sacrifice so much for her children, me and my sisters and she would rahter spend money on us then herself. It is only until recently that she has began to spend money on herself and to finally update her wardrobe. She has made do with the same clothes for more than 15 years and I was so happy to be there when she scored the biggest deal ever. We went shopping one day and I knew that my mom really wanted a nice bag, she has been using the same bag over and over again. we were casually browsing the racks when suddenly a supple leather bag caught my eye. i quickly grabbed it and realized that it was Chloe bag! And since it was a consignment store i guess the workers did not realize the gem that it was since they only priced it at $90!! I ran over to my mom and showed her and she got so excited and began telling me how great it would look on me and how it would go with so many outfits! I bought the bag and when we got into the car i turned to her and told her that I wanted to have it. Knowing how much i loved the bag and really wanted it and realizing that I loved her so much made her tear up and all she could do was hug me. That was the best expereicne of my life!
I would really love to get the shoes for her!! And i think she would really love a pair of boots so if i am the lucky winner I will let her decide which pari of boots she will get but I think she will love the dryden

Think I'd have to say that my favorite shopping coup to date is a toss up
between….
1. the Raspberry Suede 4" BCBG's that I bought at Loehmans that were marked 39.99 & when I got up to the register they told me my birthday discount was applicable & they were even less! These shoes are comfortable to wear walking, standing & dancing. Even better, when I wore them to work almost every guy in the office stopped me or called me over to tell me what great shoes they were & how good they looked on me! Who knew?!
2. the Black Patent 4" Platform Peeptoes that I found at Target for 25.99! Thought I'd totally scored til I walked to the other side & saw them in Leopard print- couldn't leave them. These are also comfy to walk, stand & dance in, get lots of looks & women think they're Steve Madden's or a higher-end label. Gotta love em!
My choice is uneqivocally the Fuchsia ELKE LS in size 7 please! yay!!
Great giveaway- thanks!

My favorite shoe shopping experience happened when my boyfriend and I started dating. He is much taller and can see the top of the clearance racks. He picked up a box from the top rack saying "how about these?" Needless to say I almost passed out! Not only did he have great taste, but the shoes were a pair of beige Michael Kors flates that I have wanted but could never find! They were only $13.00!!!
I love the Nina Edina Booties in a size 6.5

I was in century 21, doing some shopping for a trip. So I was browsing the purse section and if you've ever been to century 21 you need to be a savvy and strong shopper. There are plenty of women ready to pounce on you..sometimes they just grab handful of bags and horde it to a little corner where there can look at it carefully. Well need less to say I saw this beautiful black leather hobo bag from Hype and the price was ($50). This bag was $250 and I couldn't believe it was there, the only one. So that's one of my best shopping experiances.. what gal doesn't love a bargain…
Would love to win the Edina peeptoe bootie, or the CHESEN their both amazing..

It was the cold winter of 2007 when I came to this country. I did not have any winter clothes and did not have alot of money to buy them. So, I was looking for something warm and affordable (cute would be a plus too). As I was looking and searching for jackets, I found this really warm and good quality jacket by 'triple five sole' at Daffys for only $20, and the original price was $98. I like this jacket alot and I have washed it thrice and still using it. This was by far my best deal!
I would love to win the Elke LS in true blue satin luster in size 5 1/2 .

My favorite shopping experience has to be the time I had a whole afternoon to myself to go shopping for the perfect outfit to wear to my 20-year H.S. reunion. I've changed a LOT since H.S. and even since the 10-yr reunion, and NOT for the better, so I was nearly desperate to find something perfect.
Obviously, this night was a one-time affair, but even more it was an extremely rare chance to have a whole day & night alone with my husband. We have been married for 19 yrs and have 4 kids: 2 with autism, and 1 with cerebral palsy… so our date nights are few and far between – it's just too hard to find someone to keep all of them at once. This night they could stay with aunts and cousins and we could have 24+ hours of needed respite.
So, anyway, I went to the mall, and decided to look in Macy's and as I walked into the shoe department, I saw the most BEAUTIFUL shoes I've ever seen in my life. I mean, I swooned, lol. They were gorgeous royal-blue suede and black patent, color-block pumps.(I don't remember who made them) I stood looking at them for I don't know how long until a salesperson approached and asked if I wanted to try them on. Now, I can't remember the last time I spent more than $30 on shoes that weren't "sneakers" that I knew I'd get a few years of use from (i.e. Reboks or NewBalance),so when I looked and saw the price I nearly fainted again. Over $100! I told the guy that I didn't think I'd be buying them, since they were a little out of my price range. He said that they were on a really good sale and besides it didn't cost anything to try them on. (I wonder how many shoes he sells with that tactic…) He was so nice. I'm sure it was just the fact that I was shopping alone for a change, but it sure felt like I was getting the VIP treatment somehow. I told him my size and he went back and got that size and a 1/2 size smaller and larger and the little footie-nylon thingies (what *are* those called?) and I tried them on. OMG! I was totally in *love* with these shoes. Who said a 4" heel couldn't be comfy? These felt like they were made for my feet. And sooo beautiful. I figured that with the sale price and the extra discount coupon he said he'd give me that I could apply, I would be able to get them for maybe $20 more than I'd planned on, so I bought them.
Unfortunately, it turned out that the oh-so-gorgeous royal-blue was unmatchable. I mean, I searched *everywhere* for anything that would go with that blue, but no matter what shade variation I tried, it was totally off. And somehow wearing all black and only black or or silver or gold accessories just didn't look right either. So in the end, I ended up having to return them. I was so sad. But what use are shoes that nothing matches?
If I win, I think I'd like the Chesen boots in tan or brown.
Thanks for reading this ultra-long "comment" LOL

My favorite shopping glory moment it has to be when i found the navy blue sheath dress from the ralph lauren in my size too for the grand total of us dollars 20 only (marked down from 399!) it is thick warm wool, with a small v-neck cutout in the round scoop neck, cap sleeves, and is just gorgeously tailored to perfection. I found it at the burlington coat factory. I would like the elegant Paladin-YS in the golden brown in sz 6 to go with this blue dress.

My favorite shopping moment was when I only had an hours before this really important competition and I needed heels that would make me the same height as the rest of my quartet. I drove to the closest macy's and grabbed the first pair that fit what I needed. They were 4 in. nine west blue suede pumps that were only around $20 because I came in through the clearance racks. As I looked closely later, they fit me perfectly, are SUPER comfy, and are not expensive at all. It is now my favorite heel and I wear it a lot. It is my favorite experience because had I actually been looking for something as perfect as it was, it would probably have taken at least a few hours. I feel really lucky to have found them.
The nina shoe that I would love is Electra Ivory Luster Satin in size 7.5.

My most recent, and probably my greatest find included a shopping trip for my daughter who will be getting married in several months. I was making my was ever so slowly through the shoe department at Nordstrom Rack. There, on the bottom shelf, a pair of the most beautiful white patent crinkled leather PRADA flats were sitting. SCOOP! And what do you know, they were my daughter's size, AND the ONLY pair anywhere on the shelves. Did I feel guilty for paying $49 for those $500 shoes…. we'll I will admit I hid them in my basket under several other items I was purchasing and was looking around to make sure someone wasn't going to come tell me the price was a mistake while I was at the register paying for them. Oh, happy day! (my daughter was rather excited as well, as these will be her shoes for the reception!)

1. My favorite shopping moment was when I went to check out the JC Penney clearance diamond jewelry. I found a very unique necklace, it was a diamond heart necklace but it had an inner heart of black rhodium and a little keyhole in the center. I fell in love, but it was $900 originally. I asked anyways about the price, and it turns out with my JC Penney card and a few more discounts, it came out to only $160! Definitely my favorite find.
2. I would adore owning the Arlana boots in a 7! Even though it's spring, I have yet to own a pair of black stiletto boots and those are gorgeous!

All of these stories are so excellent! My favorite shopping moment was probably the first time I stepped into a Saks Fifth Avenue. Just seeing all of the luxurious items, and smelling the perfumes, touching the exquisite leathers and furs… and of course the feel of some exorbitantly priced shoes on my feet! And the first time I ever bought something at Saks, it was just a little Marc Jacobs hat, and the salespeople treated me as if I was spending $100000! I love Saks, it will always be my sanctuary from the ugliness of real life! (wow, this could be a nice advertisement for saks huh??)
Anyways, my fav shoes from NinaShoes.com are the CYBIL's in white, size 6.5 – they are hot!!

One night, a few of my friends and I went out to eat at a very fancy restaurant. I wore a yellow sundress, creamy leather stilettos, and my brand new prized possession- my Dior purse (which perfectly matched my off-white cream colored stilettos.) I didn't want to put my brand new love-of-my-life on the ground, so I nestled it right between myself and the seat. The waiter came and we placed our drink orders; it was a perfect day for a glass of pinot noir. Our drinks came and the waiter sat my wine down first and then reached over to set my fiances' martini down, and while he was pulling his arm away from him, he accidentally knocked down MY glass of wine onto MY brand new Dior! I screamed and grabbed a napkin to help remove the blasphemous red. Fortunately, it was a very nice restaurant and they offered me full retail value of the bag in order to replace it. Well, I had bought my bag on a website that was having a 40% off sale a month prior to the spill… When I told them to Google my purse for the retail value- it was actually 40% more than I paid for it. They paid the full amount; I, in turn, waited for another sale and blew all the money on an even NICER Burberry (patent leather.)
My favorite shoes of Nina are the Edina. Those are HOT!!! The ruffles on the edges really put them over the edge. (Size 9.) I have yet to find the perfect "bootie", but those are wonderful!
Thank you!!

About six years ago, I was shopping at a department store end-of-season sale and they had racks of shoes for $10. Most of them were pretty tacky. Suddenly I spied a dark blue box and realized it was Stuart Weitzman. Inside the box were a pair of lovely black slingback heels, a style I had on my mental wishlist. When I went to check out, I was so worried that I would be told they were a much higher price but the cashier rang them up for the sale price. I even said something like, "That's the right price for those shoes?!" and the cashier said yes. When I got home with the shoes, I discovered they were a bit tight so my husband agreed to see if he could find them in another size at that deparment store's other location on his way home from work. He found them there, in the designer section of the shoe department, still prominently on display. When he exchanged them for the right size, the clerk, seeing that the price had been marked down several times on my box, asked my husband to keep the box we had brought the other pair in so that he wouldn't have to give away an unmarred S. Weitzman box. No sweat on our end and problem solved! I had my first designer purchase — a pair of perfectly sized Stuart Weitzman pumps — for $10!
My favorite Nina shoes are the Edina booties (size 9).

My most memorable shopping experience is not my killer deal of a lifetime, but the one I remember most vividly. When my daughter was 17 she did not dress like most 17 year olds, and wanted something different for her prom dress. While she couldn't articulate exactly what she wanted she knew that when she saw it, it would grab her. I told her I would buy nothing that cost more than $150 for a prom dress – I know, I know, I'm tight. She could live with that.
We looked at what seemed to be every formal dress in the Phoenix metro area. We had beeh shopping for five hours and found nothing. Nearing the end of the day, exhausted, we went to Nordstroms to go to the restroom, I suggested we look at their formal wear. There, tucked in the sale rack, size 6 was a pink beaded silk dress that fit her personality and her body like it was made for her. Price tag: $159. We went down to the shoe area and found a pair of crystal encrusted sandals on sale for $65. She bought the shoes, I bought the dress.
Why was this so memorable? I remember how exhausted we were, how excited we were to find this perfect dress, how beautiful she looked, and how many times since she has worn both the dress and the shoes.
My favorite Nina shoe is Detra.

I was looking through the sale section one day at a local department store that tends to cater to a little bit of a grandma-y clientle. I know there are grandmas out there that dress awesome and wear sexy shoes, but this would not have been the store for them to shop at.
This was usually not a store I shopped at but I was there, and there were shoes, so I looked. I found a pair of brown Steve Madden stilletos that I had been wanting for a year or two, in my size, marked down to 15.00. I was so excited and amazed. I snatched them up and wore them until they couldn't be worn any longer.
I adore the Cybil shoes in red. The scream take me to a boardwalk, with sun, and an ocean, and have a wonderful day!

First off, I love love the Ursula in black.
Secondly, I have two amazing shopping experiences that happened at the same day and place. They took place at a thrift store near where I live. I wasn't even really shopping for myself, mostly just passing time before I met friends for lunch. So, I'm in the toy section looking for old barbies and massive puzzles because I'm a fan when I see this plaid tartan fabric underneath a ton of stuffed bears and alligators and whatnot. So I'm digging through and its a freaking prada skirt wrapped in this amazing vintage marching band jacket. They both fit and I was way excited. Unfortunately I had to run to the bank since they don't take VISA (I know, right? Everyone takes VISA) so I was really worried they'd be discovered. Luckily they weren't and now they live happily ever after in my closet.

I've had way too many fantastic shopping experiences to just pick one as a favorite, but I can definitely remember one which happened recently and stands out from the rest.
I had gone to the South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa without any hopes of purchasing anything, just to window shop and drool at the sight of all the beautiful, high-end clothing and shoes. I went into Steve Madden just to look and found a wall of shoes on sale for $20! I immediately bought a pair of Bijoux's, which I had been eying online but was hesitant to purchase (retail price, $130). I was dying from happiness and couldn't believe my luck.
Right after that, I went into Zara (again, just to look) and found more than enough pairs of harem pants which I had been wanting (retail, $40-50), on sale — and only for $10! I grabbed one as fast as I could, tried it on, and bought it. My only regret was I didn't buy more than one pair in different colors. However, that day was one of the best shopping days of my life. I went to South Coast Plaza not expecting anything at all, and left a very excited and happy woman!
My favorite pair of Nina shoes are the black Chesen's (size 7), they would be perfect to wear this fall/winter.

My best shopping moment was not clothes-related. I collect Sarreguemines majolica, and I was in a junk shop and saw, for $4, a Sarreguemines plate with cherries on. I'd just bought three of its cousins a week or so before for $60 each, so I grabbed it. I actually felt quite guilty too.
If I were to win, I would want the Electra, because I like it; and because it'd be free, I'd get it in the very impractical but delicious (I don't have any purple shoes because I don't have any purple clothes) grape colour.

This contest is perfect for a shoe-loving-whore like me! I live for those heart stopping moments. You feel like a bandit the prices are so good! Which brings me to my most recent plunder made at a local TJMAxx. I was on a routine hunt in the shoe department and as my eyes roved the 8 through 9 shelves, they caught a glimpse of something shiny, caramel-ly, and a familiar almond toe box. A heartbeat later, I was caressing a pair of patent leather tortoise shell mary-janes from Stuart Weitzman in my palms. Oh, an old friend! (I use to work the registers at the Boston boutique.) It was the only pair of its kind in sight, in my size, and fit like well worn glove! Not to mention, they're sexy as hell. But it gets even better! Somehow, by the miracles of the all-loving-shoe-gods, they were stupidly priced at an astounding $19.99. Well, I couldnt believe it, knowing their retail price points, they could start anywhere from $200.00 and up! My palms began to sweat as I lined up at the registers. I was waiting for the cashier to rectify what felt "oh so wrong". But they slipped through the little scan thingy without a problem! Its these shopping highs that make my day! And sometimes, even weeks! Therefore, if I were to win this contest, I think those mid-calf CHESEN boots in black suede size 8.5 M would make my month! The chain ribbons and buttons are the perfect foil to the loose and slouchy shaft. A lovely mix of rough and soft. It would make for a well-loved and well-cared for addition to my ever growing boot collection! Thank you!

1. I was just surfing through hangers in a vintage shop, hunting for nothing in particular, when an adorable rat grey longer short-sleeved tshirt came to light in my hands. It had a huge black spangled peacock embroidered on the chest and looked just… amazing. I tried it on, but it was too large for me. So I asked the shop assistant to lend me some pins to try & see if it would suit me a bit smaller. And I began pinning it from all directions, trying desperately to make it a perfect fit. I somehow managed to get a satisfied glance at myself in the mirror of that small cabin. And so the peacock tshirt came to belong to me and only me!!! I, of course, had to tailor it properly after getting it. But it is mine & I love it & I feel extraordinary wearing it! A very nice lady I was sitting pretty close to in a pub ( only a couple of weeks ago ) has offered to buy it from me. I was sorry for her, I knew perfectly well how she felt…
The story of my peacock tshirt.
2. I just looove the Electra stiletto ( in powder sand colour ); luckily it is also available in my rare & impossible to find size! It is to die for!

About a year and a half ago I went to Urban Outfitters just to browse the racks. I don't usually look at the shoes there because they tend to be a little bit out there for me. However, on this particular occasion there happened to be a crazy sale going on. There were clothes littered all over the floor and the shoe area was a sea of open boxes and shoes missing their mates. I happened to notice a FRYE shoe box, and when I opened it up there was a pair of oiled brown leather 12R Engineer boots. They were a size 10; this probably explains why they had not been snatched up yet, but luckily for me I have huge feet. They were marked down from the standard retail price of about $200 to $23 when all discounts were taken into consideration. I will always fondly remember the day that my clown-sized feet gave me a chance to snag a pair of beautiful, timeless, well-crafted boots for dirt cheap, from a place I never expected to find such a shoe.
If I were to win, I really love the Udine in the raspberry iguana leather. gorgeous.
