I’ll be honest, I don’t always go in for animal print … but with designers like Yves Saint Laurent, I am always willing to make an exception. YSL’s Tribtoo Printed Calf Hair Pumps ($880 at Net-a-Porter) are definitely an exception. I am going to be gushing a little bit in this post, I just know it, so please bear with me!
First of all, I love the shape. I love a full toe, especially with a super high heel. I think the silhouette is gorgeous and sexy and just downright delicious. I also love that this isn’t a plain old black pump, yet YSL was bold enough to go with a black and grey pattern – and pulled it off so it’s neither drab nor boring. That also makes it different from most animal prints, and the overall result is sleek, chic, and definitely classy.
The pumps have a suede heel that measures a sky high 6 inches, or 150 millimeters. However, it also has a hidden platform measuring 2 inches, or 45 millimeters. That will offer you lots of extra balance and stability, but still leaves you with a good 4 inches of heel. I don’t know about you, but concealed platforms are quite often my best friends.
The rounded toe has a subtle up tilt, creating an added, sexy arch to the foot. These are the kinds of pumps that will not only call attention to your legs, but will no doubt make them look beyond stellar as well.
What do you think about animal prints? Love, hate? And what do you think about the calf hair bit? I don’t know, I think it looks rather lush.
